You might recall in Residuals #4 and Residuals #7, I combined a crop trial of potatoes – a science practice – with the artistic practice of drawing. This year – 2026, I again conducted a crop trial of potatoes with charcoal/biochar. Initially, I undertook artistic research into marking the earth where the potatoes were grown with charcoal – which I describe here. Perhaps this is also the beginnings of Residuals #12?
